Controlling date formats when merging from Excel 2003 to Word 2003 PDF Print E-mail

When you merge date fields from Excel into Word documents the date formats may be lost.

To correct this:

1. From the Word mail-merge document, right-click the field name eg Start Date

2. Click the "Toggle Field Codes" option which will display something like {MERGEFIELD "Start Date"}

3. Edit the field to include a formatting control: \@ "dd/MM/yy" e.g.  {MERGEFIELD "Start Date" \@ "dd/MM/yy"}

4. Preview the mail merge and the date format should be for example 31/12/08
